Tales of a Phoenix

Monday, February 19th - Saturday, March 2nd

Yana & Harry Schnitzler present “Tales of Phoenix – The Letting Go Project” coming to Empire Outlets 2/19/24 – 3/2/24

Tales of a Phoenix is a joint exhibition by the renowned artist couple Yana & Harry Schnitzler, presented at Empire Outlets February 19th through March 2, 2024. Yana Schnitzler’s internationally acclaimed Letting Go Project and Harry Schnitzler’s immersive More For You are juxtaposed for the first time in a unique and highly compelling symbiosis.

While the room-filling skirt of The Letting Go Project invites women to participate by writing down their story on a piece of fabric, More For You creates a dazzling surrounding through a printed world of crushed beverage cans. A captivating witness of our time, Tales of a Phoenix encapsulates aspects of the human condition in a fascinating and very immediate way.

For the past thirty years, the artist couple has been exploring themes of human connection, feminism, sustainability and consumerism through their site-specific and interactive works, movement-based art installations, large-scale exhibits and curated art shows. Their work has been presented throughout the US and Europe, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, NYC; One World Trade Center, NYC; Peabody Essex Museum, Boston, MA; The National Arts Club, NYC; Hamburg Art Week, Germany; Lake Como, Italy and Opéra Plage, Nice, France, among others. Recently featured on three giant video walls in Times Square, the couple’s work has been widely covered by the international press.

They received funding support from the National Endowment for the Arts, the City of New York, the New York State Council on the Arts, Bossak/Heilbron Charitable Foundation, German General Consulate New York and Friends of the Hudson River Park. Corporate and institutional clients include BMW, Citibank, Coca Cola, Amazon, Audi, Airport Munich, Kellogg’s, Jana Water and UNICEF.
